Juhan Ulfsak is an actor and a director whose productions have delved into the psyche of the contemporary man in a controversial, irrational and expressive way. Among others, he has used texts by Michel Houellebecq, Sarah Kane, Lars von Trier et al as starting points for his works.
It is Bernardo Bertolucci's film “The Dreamers” and Jean Cocteau's book “Les Enfants Terribles” that serve as reference points for "NO36 Dreamers".
Theatre NO99 presented at Biennale di Venezia
Biennale di Venezia 2017 has chosen two works by Theatre NO99 to be presented its theatre programme - NO42 El Dorado: The Clowns' Raid of Destruction and NO43 Filth. Ene-Liis Semper's productions (with NO43 Filth co-directed with Tiit Ojasoo) were chosen by the new artistic director Antonio Latella, with his this year's programm focusing on women directors. The company of Theatre NO99 will give two performances in Venice - one with NO43 Filth on July 26 at Teatro alle Tese and another on July 27 with NO42 El Dorado: The Clowns' Raid of Destruction at Tese dei Soppalchi. Biennale di Venezia's theatre programme is the one of the most notable theatre festivals in Italy.

Lauri Lagle's productions delve into questions of how to find perception that is unmediated and what is the true value of interhuman contacts. In an age that is wholly politicised, his productions are poetic, often characterized by absurdist humour, ambivalent images, and the ability to unite the universal with the everyday.
SASHA PEPELYAYEV BACK AT NO99
Sasha Pepelyayev, a director of physical theatre known for his imaginative adaptions of classics, is once again back working at Theatre NO99. Having previously directed 'NO86,5 tsuaF' and 'NO79 Margarita and Master", based on Goethe and Bulgakov respectively, he is currently in rehearsal (with acting students of the Drama School of Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) with "The Twelve". A long poem by Russian fin-de-siecle poet Alexander Blok, "The Twelve" is maybe the most fiercely debated work in 20th century Russian literature and one of the first artistic reactions to the Russian Revolution. A 100 years later, Pepelyayev brings it to stage as 'NOДвенадцать', а powerful feat of physical theatre. Read more.
